Extension Rod
The mud pump extension rod forms part of the mechanical connection between the power end and fluid end of the mud pump. Installed between the crosshead and piston rod, it transfers reciprocating motion toward the piston system during pump operation.
Because extension rod dimensions and connection features vary between mud pump designs, replacement components should be selected according to the specific pump model and component requirements. Product Description
The Extension Rod is a key connecting component of the fluid end of the mud pump. It is mainly used to connect the piston rod and the crosshead, transmit power, compensate for installation gaps, and ensure the smoothness and continuity of the reciprocating movement of the mud pump. It is widely compatible with various mainstream mud pump models such as F series, 3NB series, and PZ series, and adapts to the use needs of different drilling scenarios.

1. Forged 40Cr / 42CrMo Alloy Steel
FH Petroleum mud pump extension rods are manufactured from forged 40Cr or 42CrMo alloy steel according to the specific product design and application requirements. Forged alloy-steel blanks provide the strength, toughness and fatigue resistance required for extension rods operating under repeated reciprocating loads in mud pump service.
The forged blanks are subsequently machined to the required dimensions and connection features according to the applicable drawing or technical specification.
2. Precision Craftsmanship
The extension rod is treated with a professional heat treatment process, which effectively improves the hardness and wear resistance of the product, eliminates problems such as deformation and fracture during use, and extends the service life; at the same time, it adopts CNC precision machining with high dimensional accuracy and good interface matching, which can perfectly adapt to the installation requirements of various mud pumps.
3. Surface Treatment
According to requirements, the surface of the product can be galvanized, nickel-plated or decorative chrome-plated, effectively enhancing the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of the product, enabling it to adapt to the harsh environment during oilfield drilling (such as containing mud, chemicals, high temperature and high pressure, etc.), and further extending the service life of the product.
4. Complete Specifications
The core specifications are matched with the piston rod, including 1 5/8" and 1 1/2". At the same time, a full range of extension rods and supporting piston rods/pony rods are available, compatible with various mainstream mud pump models, perfectly interchangeable with original parts, easy to install, and no additional equipment modification is required.
